ALL ABOUT

Yukon King Seafoods of Alaska

Yukon King Seafoods fishing grounds are located at the lower portion of the Yukon River which empties into the Bering Sea. Local people rely on the river and the Yukon Salmon for subsistence and commercial purposes. More than 600 individual fishermen, mostly Yup'ik Eskimo from the surrounding villages, participate in the fishery. It truly is a fishery with a history thousands of years old.

Yukon King Seafoods is the distributor for Maserculiq Fish Processors, an Alaska native-owned processing facility located in Marshall Alaska, on the banks of the Yukon River.  Maserculiq Fish Processors is a HAACP certified processing facility that works closely with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation to follow HAACP guidelines.

Yukon King Seafoods is the distributor for Maserculiq Fish Processors, an Alaska native-owned processing facility located in Marshall Alaska, on the banks of the Yukon River.  All Yukon King Seafoods salmon products are hand-processed in Marshall.  Our award-winning smoked salmon products are smoked using time-honored techniques that have been past on through generations.  All value-added specialty products are filleted, vacuum sealed, and stored in cold storage in Marshall.  Work at the local fish plant provides vital economic opportunity in the community.

Fresh salmon are caught by our fishermen and delivered directly to the fish plant, on ice, and moved quickly into the processing area.  Ice is given to the fishermen prior to commercial openers to insure the highest quality.  Once fresh salmon enter the processing facility they are further chilled and slush iced, then processed H&G (headed and gutted) by local native workers.  Fresh salmon are then placed in wetlock boxes with gel ice and shipped to market as fast as possible.  Insulated liners are used for all East Coast customers to insure cold travel, and they are available upon request.  Yukon King Seafoods prides itself in getting Yukon salmon moving to market within 24 hours after arrival at the docks.

Yukon King Seafoods is proud to keep the native traditions alive and vibrant.  Local fishermen rely on the salmon and the river for subsistence purposes and are greatly dependent on the income from commercial openers to continue their way of life.  We strive hard to give the fishermen of Marshall the best opportunity to sell their salmon.  Yukon King Seafoods strives to expand markets and search out new customers.  Please contact us with any questions.
